Fall and Winter Streamer Bite Coming Soon
Clarion and Allegheny River Trips 2017
After a soaking wet spring, which had the water levels high for most March and April, conditions finally stabilized for mid May-June. The fishing was phenomenal. Lots of big wild brown trout with a few rainbows and some brookies mixed in. There are always streamer fishing opportunities when the water is high, but it sure is fun after it comes back down and you can get some shots at these big bruisers on dry flies. Action will pick back up this fall and be good all through the winter.

A New Year Brings New Opportunity
I'm very happy to restart my old page with its new look, name, and content. Finally after 15 years in the industry, I'm taking my show independent and it's my pleasure to present Fin & Fly Adventures. This is a primarily fly fishing based guide service that also offers some terminal tackle opportunities.
Fly fishing opportunities include trout, bass, musky, carp, and steelhead. Species options are all based on conditions and time of year. Both wade and driftboat fishing trips available as well. Terminal fishing opportunities are primarily targeting walleye, with perch, crappie, white bass, smallmouth bass, and northern pike as a bonus.
Our area of service would be NW Pennsylvania and the Southern Tier of NY. Waters we fish are, but not limited to, Allegheny Tailwaters (Allegheny River), Clarion River, Lake Erie Tribs, Kinzua Dam, and Chautauqua Lake.
Also on this page you will see my own adventures from hunting and fishing with family and friends.
These pics are just a little recap of last years guiding season. We are looking forward to a great 2017!
Here are a few more pics from some of the terminal fishing trips.

The Fourth of July weekend on Chautauqua was amazing.

Living The Dream
I do not really know what to say other than.... does it get any better that this? Two beautiful days on two different rivers. Thank you to Jim from the Dudewater Blog and Orvis Cleveland and also Alex, who guides out of Ohio for coming over to fish. Great weather, great fishing, and spending time with other FISHAHOLICS. Like the title of this post says...Living The Dream

60 degrees in January... "Let's go fishing!"
January 30th and the weather was pushing 60 degrees and rain. The Allegheny River had been running at 1900 CFS and on this morning was rising. Sink tips and big ugly streamers were the ticket. Pictured above is Steve with a nice healthy rainbow and on the left is myself with my second brown trout of the morning.
Today the temperature is in the 20s and falling with lake effect snow. Glad we were able to enjoy it yesterday. Back to tip-ups and fishing the hardwater next week I guess. It looks like it is going to be winter again for a while.

Unpredictable
From 80 degrees and sunny to snow covering the ground this morning. It has been a very unpredictable spring so far. All I know is that we need some rain to bring the low water conditions up.
These are just a couple of pics of browns caught on the Allegheny the last couple weeks. The fish on top was caught last weekend during a windy cold day that topped out around 42 degrees. The fish to the left was caught the week before while I was wearing a t-shirt on a bright sunny 80 degree day.
I wonder what it will do next week???

More Tiger Trout Pics
This is just an addition from the previous post. Here are a few more pics now that you know what you are looking at.
What do you see in this picture?
If you did not know that I was a fisherman and what you would assume to see in this picture, would you notice? This is a Tiger Trout that a client caught on the Allegheny River today. I can't explain how pretty the markings were on it. You can see it for yourself!

Favorite Time of Day
The fishing on the Allegheny has been slow with the water being so warm. I accidentally fell out of the driftboat today when trying to jump out in fast water to slow down and it was like falling into a bath tub. I wanted to stop the boat quickly and this was my only option. In a hasty rush, I slid the oars into the boat and proceeded to jump out into the water only for my right foot to catch the side of the boat and send me face first into the river. I popped up, gabbed the boat, and as if nothing had happened I proceeded to tell my clients where to cast. The look on their faces was priceless. We hooked a few small fish today but could not manage to get any to the net. Even though the fishing was slow, it was a beautiful morning and an entertaining day...for the clients that is...It's not every day that you get to see the guide go swimming.

Weekend Catch
Despite the tough fishing conditions with the warm sun and a million canoes and kayaks, we still managed to catch some nice fish over the weekend on both the Clarion and Allegheny rivers. Hoppers with nymph droppers on the Clarion and caddis emergers on the Allegheny. Congratulations to John and Linda on some nice fish caught the last couple days and some even nicer ones that got away. One giant jumping rainbow in particular on the Allegheny.

Tiger Trout
While fishing with "Dutch" over the weekend on the Allegheny River, we hooked this trout that we could not identify until we got it in the net. It was a Tiger Trout. It was only the second one that I have had a client catch and the first one that I have ever seen on the Allegheny. The only other one that I have seen was on the Clarion River. For those who do not know, a Tiger Trout is a cross breed between a Brown and a Brook trout. It was a nice surprise and a really nice fish!

Last Chance Riffle
After a good day of fishing on the Allegheny River, we managed to catch this nice rainbow out of the last riffle before the takeout. We had a good day with some quality browns landed and some nice fish that got away. This best fish of the day came after drifting the same small pocket for 20 minutes before finally getting a strike. I guess persistence really does pay off! Nice fish Phil.

Hook, Land, Pose, and Celebrate!
Shane with a nice rainbow and the whole story captured in a series of pictures. It was a good day to be off and fishing the Allegheny with Dave acting as our guide.
